Henry Cabot Lodge (1850–1924) was a lifelong resident of this house. Lodge, as United States Senator from Massachusetts, was a critical voice in foreign policy debates of the early 20th century; he supported a wider role for the United States on the world stage, but led the opposition to ratification of the 1919 Treaty of Versailles that ended World War I.[101] Photo: John Phelan, CC BY 3.0, via Wikimedia Commons (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Henry_Cabot_Lodge_House,_Nahant_MA.jpg)
