Aristotle Christian is a retired fisherman; while the sun rises up a mile off the coast of Marseille, he and his son-in-law rush into another disappointing capture. Without knowing it, there is a storm of epic size breaking out into the horizon. Jeanne, Caitlin, Aurora and Solène are four theatre creators in search of a story. In an explosive hour that erases the border between myths and reality, documents and fiction, they tell the story that ended up in their nets; a whirlwind of a modern odyssey about fish, family and the world's end. Ancient monsters rise from the depths to meet the absurdities of late capitalism; oral tradition faces ecological collapse; generations conflict with each other, and cultures collapse together. On stage, the four actors mix field recordings, live music and sound landscapes with the native languages of their respective nationalities. The show is played in French, English and Norwegian with subtitles. <> (seasick) is a fun, poetic and physical story about when to hold fast and how to let go of a world that is still sinking. Compagnie FRÄRES was founded in 2024 by five young, female artists from France, Italy, Norway, Ireland and the United Kingdom, who met at the international Lecoq school in France. The notions are based on field work and question what it means to live in the world today. In each performance they ask: comment vivre ensemble (how can we live together)? They often end up playing men and exploring traditionally male-dominated professions (of which the company name: brothers). This is either a coincidence after an inevitable Freudian fixation.
