Chilly Gonzales and La Rumeur combine their universes for an unprecedented creation. An internationally recognized pianist and composer, Gonzo has been illustrated by his trilogy of Solo Piano albums, his collaborations with Daft Punk, Feist or Drake, as well as his stage performances, where humour, virtuosity and boldness mix together. La Rumeur, a legendary French rap band, returned to the front of the stage in 2023 with How to Stay Clean?, their first album in more than ten years. Acclaimed by criticism, this record marks their great return, faithful to the poetic and disputing richness of their catalogue, while remaining in tune with modern sounds. Their meeting, initiated during the legendary session Grünt #63 and extended by the title 7 July 2024, brought forth a clear point: the words of La Rumeur and Gonzales' piano respond, challenge and rise together to question our time.In line with the Rap de Chambre project, concert created by Chilly Gonzales for the Hyper Weekend Festival in 2023, bringing together chamber musicians and a new generation of rappers and rappers (and in particular made viral the hit They all laugh at me at Theodora's nose), Chilly Gonzales continues her passionate exploration of rap, especially francophone, while La Rumeur invests for the first time a live and orchestrated formula. More than an opposition of styles, this show offers a real fusion: the power of texts and the intensity of flows unfold on organic and clean arrangements, creating a harmonious whole, between classical music and popular culture. An album is in preparation, prolonging this meeting, but its contours remain secret for the time being.
